Programme 2015/16

The Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design (Moscow) opens the application to the education year 2015/16. The Strelka Institute is a non-governmental institute with  a particular focus on the City, using multidisciplinary techniques from varied fields such as sociology, economics, architecture, political and cultural studies. Since 2012, Strelka has been among Domus Magazine’s top 100 European schools of Design and Architecture.

In its sixth year Strelka education programme brings together urbanism, digital thinking and personal development combining intensive on-campus training with field trips, internship, and prototype work. It also centers on the students’ personal and career development and utilizes best practices of project management and leadership training. One of the key projects of the year is a research collaboration with Harvard Graduate School of Design, which will bring together the students of Strelka and GSD to work on a Moscow case and present the results in Harvard, Boston.

This year the programme accepts 30 students from all over the world; the programme is free, with each student receiving a monthly scholarship. The working language of the programme is English.

The name of the 5th months programme is Hybrid Urbanism

“This year we are trying to look at the intersection between the physical world and digital world. That’s why we will focus on digital services which changed our habits and urban lives. An interesting example of applied hybrid urbanism is Uber. They have radically changed way we access and experience the city using tactful thinking, mobile technology due daytime and integrate that user and partner experience”, - commented David Erixon, programming director of Strelka’s education programme and co-founder of Hyper Island.

Applicants should have a higher education diploma in any field, although Strelka Institute has an especially strong interest in students with backgrounds in architecture, media and design.
